TRUSTEE Celebrates International Day for Women in Maritime, Reinforcing Commitment to Inclusion and Innovation

18 May 2025 – The TRUSTEE Project proudly joined the global maritime community in celebrating the International Day for Women in Maritime, an initiative led by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to highlight the critical contributions of women across all areas of the sector.

This important day serves as a powerful reminder of the role that diverse voices and inclusive leadership play in shaping the future of maritime. In line with this year’s theme, the TRUSTEE consortium reaffirmed its belief that the ongoing maritime transition must be not only sustainable, but also equitable and inclusive.

Supporting Gender Equality in Maritime Innovation

At the heart of TRUSTEE’s mission is the drive to support a just transition toward Zero-Emission Waterborne Transport (ZEWT). This includes recognizing that the path to sustainability must also unlock new opportunities for women, particularly in innovation, green technologies, digitalization, and emerging maritime roles.

By actively promoting equal access to education, training, and career advancement, TRUSTEE aims to contribute to a maritime industry that is not only more sustainable—but also more representative, resilient, and future-oriented.

“Innovation will drive new opportunities for the female workforce in maritime—and we are committed to helping make that a reality.”
