Foresights for ZEWT deployment, lead by our German partner RINA, focuses on delivering a comprehensive analysis and assessment of the European water transport fleet, exploring its current status across vessel typologies, navigation types, and the services provided. The work aims to identify key mechanisms and trends driving the fleet’s transformation towards 2030 and 2050, with a particular focus on emerging concepts and technologies supporting the transition to zero-emission operations.

The Waterborne Technology Platform has released its new Strategic Research Agenda, setting a clear vision for the transformation of the European waterborne sector. Developed through a collaborative approach, this Agenda outlines key priorities in innovation, digital and green transition, and technology leadership across waterborne transport and the blue economy. It emphasises the role of SMEs, ports, and the entire value chain in achieving competitiveness, sustainability, and resilience. The Agenda aims to guide research, development, and deployment efforts, positioning Europe as a global leader in maritime and inland waterway solutions.
