On 24 February 2026, the Second Annual Meeting of TRUSTEE project was held in Hamburg, Germany, hosted by RINA Germany GmbH. Jointly chaired by ISSNOVA and RINA Germany, the meeting brought together all partners to review progress, align on upcoming activities, and further strengthen collaboration across the consortium. The agenda combined strategic updates with interactive working sessions, closely reflecting the project’s core objectives and expected outcomes.
RINA presented the final outcomes of the foresight deployment for ZEWT, a key activity contributing to the definition and validation of future European Zero Emission Water Transport (ZEWT) ecosystems for the 2030 and 2050 horizons. This work aligns with the project’s objective to deliver clear and comprehensive foresight scenarios, providing a structured analysis of the European water transport fleet across vessel typologies, navigation modes, and service segments, and supporting evidence-based decision-making.
ISSNOVA provided an update on the Stakeholder Forum activities, which play a central role in ensuring a multi-stakeholder and cross-sectoral validation process. The consortium discussed the involvement of project partners in the Forum, as well as the organization of the first round of workshops that will contribute to building a shared knowledge base among stakeholders and ensuring an equitable representation of perspectives, in line with the project’s ambition to create a common knowledge background and robust validation roadmap.
The meeting also marked the official launch of activities related to recommendations for standards and policy definition. These activities, lead by ISL, directly addresses one of TRUSTEE’s core expected results: the identification of systemic and sectoral barriers to ZEWT deployment and the formulation of actionable recommendations for standards, regulations, and policy development, supporting the European transition towards ZEWT.
NAVTEC presented the ongoing work on the comparative analysis framework and the definition of future-proof use cases. This activity contributes to the development of a multidimensional assessment framework, integrating environmental, technological, operational, societal, and financial aspects. The subsequent discussion enabled partners to refine and validate the most promising ZEWT use cases for 2030 and 2050, a key project output.
Finally, ISSNOVA facilitated a workshop on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology and data collection, which are essential components of the comparative analysis. This activity supports the project’s objective to ensure a robust and evidence-based evaluation framework, enabling consistent and comparable assessment of ZEWT solutions across different dimensions.
Overall, the meeting provided a valuable opportunity to consolidate the results achieved so far and to effectively steer the next phase of TRUSTEE activities, ensuring alignment with the project’s strategic objectives and expected impacts.
